Packing for Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s Central Valley has two seasons: dry (December to April) and green (May to November). Here’s what we recommend bringing regardless of season, plus tips for each.

The Essentials

  • Passport & second photo ID
  • Light layers (warm days, cooler evenings)
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Swimsuit (pool + hot tub at the property)
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Wide-brim hat & sunglasses
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Power adapter (Costa Rica uses US plugs)

Dry Season (Dec – Apr)

  • Lightweight cotton or linen clothing
  • Light sweater for cooler evenings
  • Hiking sandals or trail shoes
  • Extra sunscreen — sun is intense
  • Daypack for excursions

Green Season (May – Nov)

  • Quick-dry pants & shirts
  • Lightweight rain jacket or poncho
  • Waterproof shoes / sandals
  • Dry bag for electronics
  • Extra socks (you’ll need them)
  • Collapsible umbrella for day trips

Already at the Casita

  • Linens, towels & pool towels
  • Hair dryer (Guest House only)
  • Coffee maker, tea kettle, kitchenette gear
  • WiFi throughout the property
  • Basic toiletries (better to bring your own)
  • Mobility scooter for rent
  • Wheelchair upon request
